I am a young, motivated java developer with two master's degrees in computer science related fields and 5 years of work experience, most of which is in the field of enterprise java development.
I have recently moved to New York City and am looking for a new engagement as a mid/senior developer in a stimulating development project where I can continue to learn and grow as a developer. In a few years, I hope to be able to grow into the position of software architect or technical lead.

Java Developer
- Smals – one of Belgium’s largest employers in IT – provides most IT projects and infrastructure for the Belgian federal government.
- Worked for the department of social security on 2 projects called Ambi Sector and Ambi Fund with a total budget of 7 million euro. The goal of these projects was to modernize the existing infrastructure using modern java technologies while at the same time automating the department's two tasks: to process and redirect data flows between government departments and to use that data to calculate and pay social security payments to millions of Belgians.
- Used some of the most cutting edge technologies in the world of enterprise java applications: such as Google Web Toolkit and GXT for front-end, Drools for a business rules engine and Drools Planner for user roster planning, and also used more common technologies such as Spring, Spring Batch, Hibernate and JSF.
- The main challenge laid in translating the extremely complicated and continuously changing business processes caused by decades of law-making into a robust, scalable and easily maintainable system.

Flash game developer
- During the first portion of my contract I used ActionScript and Flash to build educational software such as digital whiteboard teaching tools, interactive digital text books & online learning environments.
- I was promoted to game development projects and was given the time and resources to design and develop my own flash games from scratch.
- Both resulted games ended up being very successful driving web traffic back to the company website.
- Was part of the whole development cycle: from initial idea to maintenance.
Sep 2007 – mid 2009
Self employed
Web application developer
- Designed and built web applications for the Facebook platform using my knowledge of PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Flash and SQL.
- The largest web application was in development for 5 months requiring a combination of good web development skills and solid MySQL, Apache and Linux administration skills.
- Developing on such a platform required careful planning and development as the platform functionality changed often and sometimes without warning.
- At the height of their success the combined applications reached 1,500,000 unique visitors a month.

C# .NET developer
- 2 month fixed term contract to develop cash register systems in C# .NET
- Was able to pick up new technologies and learn fast. Before starting the job, I had never developed in C#, within a week, I was developing on par with the rest of the team, fully independent and without problems.
- The job included first line support and on location installation of the software.
